I am also a gardener — and I love Irises.

My hands are clean when I draw and paint. Otherwise, the white paper would be a mess. However, when it is time to garden, I am not afraid to get dirty. I started this garden about 5 years ago. The previous owner did not garden. As a matter of fact, we started with pretty much dirt, weeds, more weeds, and a 20 year old pile of branches in the back.

I have slowly transformed portions of the garden (a work in progress that will probably last forever). Spring is my favorite time of year in the garden. Every morning, I walk outside and enjoy the new blooms that each day brings.  Everyone has their special flower.  Mine is the Iris.

I was given my first Iris rhizomes by our first neighbor in Colorado 22 years ago.  I am happy to say, they have made their way to my current garden. Many neighbors have since gladly given away their divisions, and today, I have a healthy collection to enjoy!

Here are a few shots from the garden this spring. The irises are just starting to open and I am loving it. I hope you will enjoy these photos as well, and I suppose at some point they will make their way to my paintings and designs.
